How much to pay kids for chores?
This question may not have popped up in your mind. Possibly, you would have asked if you were supposed to pay kids for chores. Let us now assume that it has been agreed that kids be paid for chores. The following line of concern would now be how much to pay kids for duties.

To be able to ascertain this, you may likely consider a few factors. The factors to consider may range from very significant to less important. But what matters is that justice be done to ascertain its impact. You may want to check money value for such chores. You may also want to consider the conditions under which such transactions must be made. The kids’ motivating factor should be paid attention to—the effects of making such payments to the kids and larger society. You may also think of beginning an academy here.

Most parents have not come to terms with paying their kids for chores. Just like that, they believe that children feed from home, why pay them? Such parents ask if the kids contribute anything to their well-being. They provide clothing, are sheltered and catered for from their parents’ purses. However, contrary to popular opinion that kids should not be paid for chores, they should receive pay. Paying a kid for tasks done does so much for them, especially when the payment is attractive. If you were to determine how much to pay kids for chores, you would need to:

Consider monetary value for such chores.

You may likely want to look at what economic value such tasks have. A critical review of what monetary value a duty carried out by a kid has, helps to ascertain its price tag. How do the chores help the finance of the family? If the tasks done help to reduce the financial burden on the parents, they place good values on them. If they were to be done by paid staff, how much would they be paid? Employing a housekeeper may likely cost you more than paying your child. If your answers to these questions are not convincing, you may need to rethink. However, if adequate monetary value is placed on such chores, then you may decide their wage along that line.

For example, you cannot pay 10 US Dollars for a 5 Dollar chore; that amounts to waste. It is also wrong to short-pay a kid for a job well done. When that happens, the kid is demoralized, and the value dropped.

Conditions for such payments must be spelled out to the kid(s)

If you have agreed to pay a kid for chores, you should give them the fulfilled conditions. This does not make you mean but ensures discipline and excellence. For instance, an excellent job attracts good pay, but incomplete tasks draw half pay. With these in mind, the kid decides their income and how they go about their chores. You wouldn’t want to have kids running around doing nothing but expect payment at the end of the day. They should earn their wages. This helps to build moral standards and work ethics in them. It helps them to be disciplined and time conscious.

They also learn to weigh options and make the right choices and pass sound judgment. As the world transforms spontaneously, people are allowed the liberty of deciding their fate. You choose to live or die in critical moments. That’s how these children can be groomed. They are allowed to determine their fate. This is done by presenting the conditions for payments. The children now have to start grooming themselves for decision-making.

How much kids are paid for chores should be a motivation.

Should I pay my kids for chores?

Kids should not be made to see whatever wages they get as service charges but as motivation for better performance. When you pay your children commensurately for their chores, it should be a motivating factor. This will enable the children to place more value on the job and not the pay. They may no longer care about the amount paid. What may likely matter most would be the fact that their efforts were appreciated. With this, such kids would even strive to do better than they had done previously. A child is encouraged to do better when they receive adequate rewards for their efforts. Whether you pay them more or exact bills, make sure it’s encouraging.

Find out the effects of paying children for chores.

When determining how much to pay kids for tasks, think of what impact the money would have on them. When considering this, look at the capacity of the child in handling money. A kid who does not have value for money may not value their pay, no matter the amount paid. In this case, it is best to ascertain the kid’s value level to avoid colossal errors.

Now, you discover that a child who used to be hardworking may become a hooligan. This may be because they directly get paid for chores and feel independent.  If you detect such effects early enough, then how much pay they receive may not allow such living. However, these kids also have equal opportunities to do right with their monies. But they still have a ‘there’s still time’ mentality, and it drags them unawares.

Consider possible alternatives to paying them money.

A child may prefer other forms of payment to cash. Most kids like kind words and love. To such kids, nice words and a pat on the back encourages them. Most kids who go around looking for chores to do are doing so to be loved. Yes, they may even have some money but need parental guidance, affection, and care.

It is when you have observed these that you decide what to do with your money. However, if they were your kids, it would be an avenue to get closer to them. There are yet kids that prefer gifts to cash payments. When you have such kids, please buy them gifts. These gifts prove that you care and value them. It also demonstrates that you value their contributions to the home.

When these conditions have been considered, one may then determine how much to pay kids for chores.
